As he very peacefully breathed his last, my Mum, brother and I told him we loved him, and committed him to the care of our Lord. A few days later, at a service of thanksgiving for his life, we rejoiced through our tears, not only for a faithful husband, dad and church elder, but that, for him, the weakness and limitation is now over. He has departed to be ‘with Christ, which is better by far’. (Philippians 1 v 23)
Christians believe in resurrection. Christ came back from the dead as the awesome prototype! We look forward to a time when we shall be raised like Him to never age, suffer illness or die ever again. God will make ‘everything new’. (Revelation 21 v 5 )
That means no more wheelchairs! Dad and Mum, my brother and I, and all God’s children will walk together again in renewed strength and peace.
We shall see the face of our divine Rescuer and Master, the One Who embodies ‘resurrection and life’ and will, along with the angels, praise His name forever!
' You don’t have to linger any more now you can fly.
Go walk and run with our heavenly Friend, beneath a brighter sky.
Thank you for your faithful love, and gentle inspiration.
Now go in peace, in joy and faith; enjoy your soul’s salvation!'
